The Black Founders mission is to deepen the pipeline of minority tech talent and increase the number of successful black entrepreneurs in technology.
Started in 2011, Black Founders has become a leading organization in the push for minority entrepreneurship and diversity in tech with entrepreneur workshops, hackathons, and other programs in San Francisco, New York, Atlanta, and several HBCU campuses.
THE POSITION
The Program Manager will be the engine that helps us drive toward new goals and expand the impact of existing programs.
The selected candidate will oversee the execution and development of Black Founders programs, including but not limited to our initiatives at historically black colleges and universities. The Program Manager is responsible for moving projects forward and ensuring that program goals are defined, tracked, and communicated in an effective manner.
Key Responsibilities

Work with executive team to develop programs that impact students and entrepreneurs

Oversee the HBCUHacks program — a series of hackathons at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs)

Manage events including hackathons, workshops, and other community-building events

Coordinate on-site logistics including location, food vendors, and signage

Manage relationships with universities (primarily HBCUs), sponsors, and other partners

Work with local partners, mentors, and sponsors in various cities
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Energetic and flexible. This isn’t a 9-5. You’ll be up late at night and early in the morning during hackathon weekends.
Tech savvy. A computer science degree is not required for this position, but you should have some familiarity with technology and truly enjoy working with developers, entrepreneurs and technology professionals of all skill levels.
Excellent communicator. You’ll get to talk to tech industry leaders, diversity advocates, university administrators and students, so you’ll need excellent verbal and written communication skills. The Program Manager must be able to effectively communicate and interact professionally at all levels.

5+ years of professional experience

1+ years of event management experience

Passion for entrepreneurship, diversity, and the Black Founders mission

Proven ability to manage projects across several locations

Experience working with HBCUs a major plus
